Windows Vista is the latest & greatest operating system which was released earlier this year by Microsoft.  Being such a major upgrade, there are many applications and devices that are not yet supported in Vista.  

So, should you upgrade?  Should you get it on your new PC?    

In terms of BusinessVision, Sage has stated that due to limitations in the versions of the Pervasive database used by BusinessVision, you should NOT install Vista yet, as BusinessVision is not certified to run on it.  They are hoping to have a Vista-compatible version released late in 2007.

However, when BusinessVision is ready, Vista will certainly be worth considering, as it has many, many new features to enhance stability, reliability and security and to make using your PC a more productive and entertaining experience.  It comes in several different editions depending on the environment it will be used in and the hardware it will be able to run on.

Like many new pieces of software, there were some early growing pains with this release from Microsoft, but they've now been addressed, the licenses are now properly available, and it's getting rave reviews.  Main advantages for small business owners:  Lower price; better security; built-in Microsoft Exchange Server (e-mail server) licenses; optional inexpensive Microsoft SQL Server licenses for those building custom database solutions; and much better remote access capabilities.

An important upgrade - not for every network, but worth a look for any new network or any overhaul.
